Amended 7th February 2017
1.1 The School applies the regulations on admissions fairly and equally to all those who wish to attend this school.
2 Aims and objectives
2.1 Maintaining an Islamic ethos and promote high academic standards and achievement.
2.2 All applications will be treated on merit and in a sensitive manner.
2.3 The only restriction we place on entry is that of number. If the number of children applying for entry exceeds the places available, we enforce the procedure set out below in order to determine whether a child is accepted or not. It is our wish to allow parents the right to have a place at the school of their choice. However, this is not always possible, due to the excess demand on the school places available.
2.4 Due to the nature of an independent school, the level of ability of a child does play a part in the admissions policy of this school.
We are an inclusive school that welcomes children from all backgrounds and abilities.
Our school does have criteria of admission, preference is given to families who have:
Other siblings in the school
Relocated especially for an Islamic school
Ability to pay the fees
Academic ability of the child
Behaviour at Nursery
Supportiveness of parents
Date of application
2.5 We are an inclusive school that welcomes children from all backgrounds and abilities. We accept children who have a statement of special educational needs or disabilities, based upon an assessment, whereby if the school can make reasonable adjustments in order to provide adequate provision for the individual. The school can also provide access to therapy (e.g. speech and language therapy, physiotherapy) where this is required in the statement and has not been discontinued by a subsequent annual review.
Admission for pupils will be subject to:
(i) An entry test (Maths, English Comprehension)
(ii) A satisfactory reference and report from the pupil’s previous school, requested with parental consent.
(iii) A taster day- each child, who is successful in the assessment, will be invited into school for a taster day.
3 How parents can apply for their child to be admitted to our school
3.1 As our school is an independent school, the school determines the admission based on the above criteria.
3.2 Application forms can be obtained from the School Office and should be completed as soon as they are received to avoid disappointment. The school notifies parents about the school place as soon as all the applications have been considered.
3.3 In this area, children enter school in the academic year they become five. There is one admissions date per year, early in September (i.e. at the start of the school year). Therefore, parents who would like their child to be admitted to this school during the year their child is five should ensure that they complete the necessary application form by the end of April.
4 Admission appeals
4.1 If we do not offer a child a place at this school, it is because to do so would prejudice the education of other children by allowing the numbers of children in the class to exceed our stated maximum class size.
5 The standard number
5.1 The standard number is the number of children the school can accommodate. The standard number for our school is 180 We keep this number under review.
6 Infant class size
6.1 We teach infant children (aged five to seven) in classes that have a maximum number of 24 children.
7.1 This policy will be reviewed annually in the light of any changed circumstances in our school or the local area.
